The wheat station is the station of the village of Weizen , a district of the small town of Stühlingen in the district of Waldshut . The station is located at kilometer 20.4 of the of Lauchringen about Stühlingen and Blumberg after Immendingen leading Wutachtalbahn . Today, feeder trains run here in the summer half of the year to the museum railway to Blumberg-Zollhaus, which also only runs in the summer half of the year and starts here .

history

The wheat station existed from 1876 as the end point of the Wutachtalbahn coming from the direction of Lauchringen . For this reason, a station building with goods and locomotive sheds as well as a water crane and water tower for steam locomotives was built here. It is located about 1500 m south-east of the village and soon formed a small hamlet with an inn, which was named Weizen Bahnhof . In just four years, the Wutachtalbahn was extended as a strategic bypass line from Weizen to Hintschingen on the Black Forest Railway and opened in 1890. The previous wheat terminus became a through station .

The continuous passenger traffic on the Wutachtalbahn declined rapidly after the Second World War . Especially on the intermediate section, which is now operated as a museum railway, there were recently only 40 passengers per day. Therefore, from the summer schedule of 1953, the " rail-road omnibus " ("Schi-Stra-Bus") was tried out . The bus ran to Weizen on the rail, from Weizen to Blumberg on the road and from Blumberg again on the rail. The use of the Schi-Stra-Bus ended in 1956 after the middle section of the route from the Lausheim-Blumegg stop to Blumberg had been closed on May 22, 1955. Until 1971, passenger trains still ran on the lower part of the route, between Lauchringen and the Lausheim-Blumegg stop after Weizen.

Shortly after the cessation of passenger traffic, the reception building of the wheat station was completely demolished in 1971. The track systems were initially retained. The freight for Sto AG was operated until the 2,001th Despite numerous efforts to reactivate daily passenger traffic, this goal has not yet been implemented.

In 1977, on the middle section of the wheat- Blumberg-Zollhaus, a museum railway, now well-known nationwide , was put into operation, which by 2006 carried over two million passengers.

Since the former station building no longer exists, the museum trains drove from the former platform of the former station for years. In 2004/2005 a renovation was carried out on the platform: "After renovation work on Freiburg Central Station , the museum railway received the roofing that had been removed from the 1870s."

The track systems have been dismantled except for the through track on the platform , a relocation track and a short siding . Today there is again a water crane for the museum trains in the station area .
