Balho ( Arabic بالهو) Is a place in the region Tadjoura in Djibouti , on the border of Ethiopia . The residents are mostly Afar .

Rock paintings have been found near Balho . These were used as stamp motifs in 1974 in what was then the French Afar and Issa territories .

In 1991, three Afar opposition groups joined forces in Balho to form the Front pour la Restauration de l'Unité et de la Démocratie (FRUD), which fought against the government in the Djiboutian civil war . In 1993 the army was able to retake Balho, Dorra and Randa and push the FRUD to the north.
