from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ballomar , ( Latin Ballomarius ), lived in the 2nd century AD and was ruler of the Suebian Marcomanni , a Germanic tribe that settled in present-day Bohemia , at the time of Emperor Marcus Aurelius .

After prior to the first Marcomannic war Lombards and Obier had been invaded Pannonia and repulsed, led Marcus Iallius Bassus , the governor of Pannonia Superior , in 167 peace negotiations with representatives of eleven tribes. Ballomarius , the king of the Marcomanni, mediated between the negotiating partners. The peoples who had invaded the empire withdrew and pledged to rest, which the Marcomanni were supposed to guarantee, but the unrest on the border continued.
