The Banka Slovenije ( German  Bank of Slovenia ) is the central bank of the Republic of Slovenia , based in Ljubljana .

The Bank of Slovenia was established by law on June 25, 1991 shortly after the country gained independence. It is an independent central bank with a reporting obligation to the Slovenian parliament . It has been part of the European System of Central Banks since 2007 and is involved in determining monetary policy for the countries of the European Monetary Union . In addition, the bank watches over the Slovenian banking system and puts cash into circulation.
