The Barabati Stadium is a cricket and soccer stadium in Cuttack , India .
Capacity & Infrastructure
The stadium has a capacity of 45,000 and is equipped with a floodlight system. The two wicket ends are the Pavilion End and the Corporate Box End .
International cricket
The first One-Day International was held here in January 1982 between India and England . Since then it has been the venue for numerous international encounters. The first test match at this stadium took place in January 1987 between India and Sri Lanka . At the Cricket World Cup 1987 and the Cricket World Cup 1996 , a preliminary round match was played in the stadium. In 2013, parts of the Women's Cricket World Cup were moved to Cuttack after it was too unsafe for the Pakistani team in Mumbai . During the tour of South Africa in the 2015/16 season , bottles were thrown at the second Twenty20 that was played here , which interrupted the game twice and raised questions about the safety precautions. In total there have only been two tests in the stadium so far. The main reason is the lack of hotel capacity in Cuttack, so that the players are mostly accommodated in Bhubaneshwar and therefore longer journeys are connected.
National cricket
The stadium is the home of Odisha in Indian national cricket. It was also the home of the Deccan Chargers and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League
Soccer
The stadium serves as the host city for the home games of the Orissa football team.
