Barbara Knox
Barbara Knox (born September 1933 in Oldham , Lancashire ) is a British actress .
Life
Knox completed an apprenticeship as an actress. In 1962 she made her debut as a stage actress at the Oldham Coliseum Theater . Knox plays the role of Rita Tanner in the British television series Coronation Street , which she first played in 1964 and has played continuously in the television series since 1972. She was married to Denis Mullaney from 1956 to 1977 and to John Knox from 1977 to 1994. Knox has three children.
