Basilect

As basilect the designated Strataforschung by Derek Bickerton the language variety of a language community with the greatest stigma and smallest prestige . The term was introduced by William Stewart in 1965 as an antithesis to Akrolekt , and incorporated by Derek Bickerton in the early 1970s to describe the phenomenon of code switching , i.e. H. describe the abrupt change between a Creole language and a standard language . As a middle form between basilect and acrolect, Bickerton also introduced the term mesolect .
