Bavarian State Prize for Music

The Bavarian State Prize for Music , or Bavarian Music Prize for short , has been awarded by the Bavarian State Minister for Education and Culture, Science and Art since 2013 to individuals and ensembles who have been in Bavaria for at least two years and who have had outstanding musical achievements. People who have made a special contribution to music, singing and making music in Bavaria through innovative concepts can also receive the award. The Bavarian Music Prize covers all branches of music including amateur music . The honor is undoped.

In principle, up to five music prizes are awarded each year, two of them in the amateur music category , two in the professional music category and one special prize.

The associations represented in the Bavarian Music Council are entitled to make proposals . The State Minister's decision is prepared by a committee of experts appointed by the State Ministry.
