Beate Scheffknecht (born February 27, 1990 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian handball player who belongs to the squad of the Austrian national team.

Career

In the club

Beate Scheffknecht played in the youth division of SSV Dornbirn / Schoren from 2000 and later played there with the women's team in Women Handball Austria . In the summer of 2008, the backcourt player moved to the German Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg , for whom she played in the EHF Champions League in the 2008/09 season. In 2009 she joined the second division club SG BBM Bietigheim , with whom she was promoted to the Bundesliga a year later. In the 2010/11 season she was only able to take part in six Bundesliga games in which she scored 26 goals due to a shoulder injury. Then Scheffknecht joined Frisch Auf Göppingen . In the 2013/14 season she was the third most successful goalscorer in the Bundesliga with 215 goals. She has been under contract with Thuringian HC since summer 2015 . With the THC she won the German championship in 2016 and 2018.

In the national team

Beate Scheffknecht ran a total of 33 times for the Austrian youth team and 95 times for the senior national team. She participated with Austria in the 2007 and 2009 World Championships as well as the 2008 European Championships .
