The Beckhoff Group is a group of companies based in Verl , East Westphalia , which was founded in 1953 by Arnold Beckhoff as Elektro Beckhoff and is now in the second generation as a family company.

The group has been made up of three divisions since 2005 . The Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG is the field of automation, the Elektro Beckhoff GmbH the field of building and the division specialized trade is from the Beckhoff technology and design GmbH covered.

In 2017, the group achieved sales of EUR 900 million with 4680 employees.

Company history

Beckhoff was founded in 1953 by Arnold and Elisabeth Beckhoff in Verl. After the founder's death, his children Arno, Hans, Marlies and Michael took over the company in 1981. At this point in time, Beckhoff had 25 employees and achieved sales of DM 2.5 million  .

In 2005 the company was divided into the three areas of automation (Hans Beckhoff), electronics (Arno Beckhoff) and technology and design (Marlies Hillen and Michael Beckhoff).

This company manufactures automation technology. System solutions and individual components are available in various performance classes. The company focuses on PC-based control technology with the segments of industrial PC , embedded PC , fieldbus components, drive technology and automation software. This control philosophy based on PC technology as well as the Bus Terminals developed by Beckhoff and the TwinCAT automation software offer versatile alternatives to traditional control technology. With the EtherCAT technology presented in 2003 , a real-time capable Ethernet was introduced for system control, which has developed into an IEC standard.

The main areas of application for Beckhoff products are in machine and system construction as well as in building automation.

Elektro Beckhoff GmbH

The Elektro Beckhoff GmbH is the part of the company since late 2005. Building continued, the approximately 800 employees at 11 locations. The range of services includes the entire building technology from the socket to complex building automation for industrial plants, commercial properties and residential buildings.

Beckhoff Technik und Design GmbH

The Beckhoff technology and design GmbH is from the corporate portion electronics retailing of electrical Beckhoff emerged. The trading company has around 80 employees and offers high-quality entertainment electronics, lighting technology, household appliances and gift items in its store in Verl.

In the entertainment electronics sector, the company has specialized in intelligent house controls that make it possible to control the entire house - whether television, music system, lights or blinds - with a remote control. The company also realizes light scenarios in residential and commercial buildings.
