history
Beijing Guoan was founded in 1992 by the CITIC Guoan Group and reached second place in the Jia A (the top division before the establishment of the Chinese Super League in 2003) in 1995, the best placement in the league up to that point. The Chinese Cup, on the other hand, was won in 1996, 1997 and 2003, the Supercup in 1998 and 2004. Some well-known Chinese football players emerged from the team , such as: B. Energy Cottbus - striker Shao Jiayi and former Eintracht Frankfurt poker players Yang Chen .
In 2003 the club signed an advertising contract with the Korean car manufacturer Hyundai , which is why the professional team was named Beijing Hyundai Motor Football Team until the beginning of 2006 .
In November 2005, the CITIC Group signed an agreement with the Spanish football club Real Madrid . The club supports the company's own first division partner Beijing Guoan, in return the CITIC Group helps the Madrilenians through its subsidiary Guoan with marketing in China. In March 2006 Real Madrid hired the former director of the club's soccer schools in Mexico, Xabier Azkargorta , to take over the post of sporting director at Beijing Guoan.
Due to renovation work for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Beijing Guoan did not play its home games in the 64,000-seat workers' stadium as usual , but in the smaller Fengtai Stadium . After the games, a move to the new Beijing National Stadium was planned, but Guo'an is currently playing in the workers' stadium again. In 2009 the club became Chinese champions for the first time in its history, but this success could not be repeated in the 2010 season. 5th place in the final standings Guo'an missed participating in the 2011 AFC Champions League . In 2012, 2013 and 2014 you could secure participation in the AFC Champions League with twice 3rd place and once 2nd place in the final table. With fourth place in the 2015 season, the qualification for the AFC Champions League was not achieved for the first time in three years.
In August 2020, the workers' stadium was demolished for a new building. The club plays its home games in the meantime Olympic Sports Center Stadium from.
