Berline was a German airline based in Berlin and based at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport . It was founded by employees of the former Interflug and also used some of their old aircraft. The company's full name was initially called IL 18 Air-Cargo Vermittlungs GmbH ; on November 23, 1991, it was renamed Berlin-Brandenburgisches Luftfahrtunternehmen GmbH .

history

After the liquidation of Interflug by resolution of the trust agency on February 7, 1991, pilots and staff of the IL-18 squadron joined forces and took over some machines of this type in the spring of that year. They founded the IL-18 AIR CARGO . The company was financed privately by the employees, partly with funds from the social plan . On November 1, 1991, the company was renamed Berlin . The managing directors were Wolfgang Krauss and Reinhard Knäblein. The owners were Messrs. Krauss, Knäblein and Kühn.

In 1993, two Fokker 100s were added to the fleet , which were flown as leased aircraft by TAT European Airlines with French license plates by berline pilots.

Despite the fact that the order situation was good, it was not possible to achieve a cost-covering operation. In spring 1994 the company's liabilities amounted to ten million DM. Due to the financial situation, Berline filed for bankruptcy on March 31, 1994 for the first time . This was averted at short notice after two new investors were found. However, this did not result in a capital increase. Instead, the company's debts doubled to 20 million DM by October 1994, including five million DM in outstanding wage claims and social security contributions for the AOK Brandenburg . Another creditor was Lufthansa . The company's final bankruptcy took place on October 28, 1994.

Destinations

Berline operated in charter, demand and cargo air traffic. Initially, the company flew the IL-18 taken over from Interflug. For example, UN missions to Cyprus, Croatia, special transports for oil companies to the CIS , flights for sports clubs, for car manufacturers and animal transports to the Urals were carried out. The holiday traffic to the classic holiday regions rose sharply. Here the company flew to Southeast Europe (Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria), North Africa (Tunisia, Egypt) and various regions of the Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands.
