Bernd Gäbler

Bernd Gäbler (born April 18, 1953 in Velbert ) is a German media scientist , journalist and former managing director of the Adolf Grimme Institute .

Life

Gäbler studied history and German in Marburg . In the early 1980s, Bernd Gäbler was the federal chairman of the Marxist student union Spartakus , which was close to the DKP . After graduating as a historian, he worked as a journalist for various media.

At the beginning of the 1990s he was involved in the Hessischer Rundfunk magazine, Tuesday and Talk Drei-Zwei-eins , and until 1997 at WDR (including ZAK ). Later he worked for VOX ( Sports-TV ), Sat.1 at Schreinemakers live and at RTL for Stern TV . From 1997 to 2001, Gäbler was head of the media department at the newspaper Die Woche . Gäbler writes a weekly media column for Stern's website .

From August 2001 to the end of 2005, Gäbler was managing director of the Adolf Grimme Institute . Gäbler has been a professor of journalism and crisis communication at FHM Bielefeld since 2011 .

Gäbler is a member of the German Academy for Football Culture and has been a member of the jury for the “Football Book of the Year” award at the German Football Culture Prize since 2006 .
