Bernd Grossmann

Bernd Großmann (born December 14, 1947 in Dürrröhrsdorf , † September 20, 2005 in Dresden ) was a German athletics coach.

Life

Bernd Großmann studied at the German University for Physical Culture (DHfK) in Leipzig . He was an active pole vaulter and all-rounder. After completing his studies in 1971, the qualified sports teacher initially worked as an athletics trainer at SC Chemie Halle . In 1980 he moved to Dresden. He looked after the all-rounders and jumpers at SC Einheit Dresden and later at Dresdner SC . Bernd Großmann died after a long period of serious cancer.

successes

He achieved his greatest successes with André Reichelt , who was European junior champion in the long jump (8.13 m) in 1981 . Ramona Raulf-Neubert won at the World Championships in Helsinki in 1983 in the heptathlon for the world title and had improved her world record in the same year. In 1987 Marion Reichelt finished sixth in the heptathlon at the world championships. He also looked after decathletes Dirk Adam and long jumper Christian Helm .

With the disabled javelin thrower Sven Conrad , he became International German Champion in 1994, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 and German record holder with 39.46 m. Sven Conrad took fifth place in the javelin throw at the Paralympics 2000 . With Siena Christen , a disabled athlete in the disciplines of shot put and discus throwing as well as judo , he became international German champion 2000 in ball and discus, international German champion in judo from 1994 to 2000 as well as world champion 1995, European champion 1995, 1997, 1999. At the Paralympics 2000 Siena Christen won the bronze medal in the shot put with a width of 10.77 m.
