Bernd Scheelen

Bernd Scheelen (born January 7, 1948 in Hamburg ) is a German politician of the ( SPD ) living in Krefeld .

Life and work

After the Abitur at Gymnasium am Moltkeplatz in Krefeld Scheelen was four -time soldier in the Bundeswehr . Finally he began a teaching degree in English and philosophy at the University of Düsseldorf , which he did not finish. Instead, Scheelen completed advanced training to become a certified pharmaceutical representative . Most recently he was Head of Westphalia for Lundbeck Arzneimittel GmbH. Since 2006 he has been the "Doctor humoris causa" of the Krefeld carnival society "Uzvögel".

Bernd Scheelen has been married since 1969 and has three children.

Political party

Scheelen has been a member of the SPD since 1972 and was chairman of the SPD sub-district in Krefeld until 2012.

Scheelen has been a councilor in Krefeld since 1979.

Since 1994 he has been a member of the German Bundestag . Since December 2002 he has been the spokesman for the “ Local Politics ” working group of the SPD parliamentary group . Since December 2005 he has also been a member of the SPD parliamentary group executive.

Bernd Scheelen entered the Bundestag in 1998 as a directly elected member of the Krefeld constituency and otherwise always through the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia . In the 2013 Bundestag election , he decided not to stand for election after 19 years in the Bundestag.

Scheelen was mayor of the city of Krefeld from 1994 to November 2009 .
