Bernhard Askani

Bernhard Askani (born March 13, 1937 in Scherzheim ; † June 6, 2003 ) was a German history teacher and textbook author .

The son of a pastor passed his matriculation examination in 1956 at the Hebel high school in Schwetzingen . First he studied history, German and French at the University of Heidelberg , since the summer semester 1957 at the University of Tübingen and since the winter semester 1957/58 at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . Askani then returned to Heidelberg University, where he passed the state examination in spring 1961. There he received his doctorate in 1963 at the suggestion of Fritz Ernst with a thesis on the assessment of the Emperor Otto II in historiography from the 10th century to the present. From 1964 he taught as a high school teacher in Freiburg i. Br. And Mannheim. From 1972 he had a teaching position for didactics of history teaching at the University of Mannheim and from 1978 he was the subject leader for history at the teacher training seminar in Heidelberg .

Askani worked for many years as organist and choirmaster for the evangelical parish of Brühl . Askani made a name for himself as an editor and author of textbooks for history lessons; his numerous historical works , for example published by Westermann- Verlag and written together with Elmar Wagener , as well as his “Anno worksheets” for history lessons are mostly used to this day. Askani wrote the first article in the first issue of the magazine Praxis Geschichte, also published by Westermann-Verlag .
