Bernhard Christoph d'Arien

Bernhard Christoph d'Arien (born July 20, 1754 in Hamburg ; † February 14, 1793 there ) was a German lawyer and theater poet .

D'Arien studied law in Leipzig and settled in Hamburg as a lawyer after receiving his doctorate in 1778 . He has published poems and dramas and authored several opera libretti . His most successful play was the "patriotic tragedy" Klaus Storzenbecher (1783). The opera libretti he has composed include Antonio and Cleopatra (composed by Johann Christoph Kaffka ), Heinrich and Lyda (composed by Christian Gottlob Neefe ) and Laura Rosetti (composed by Johann André ).
