Berthold Haupt
Berthold Haupt (born November 7, 1905 in Dresden ; † February 26, 1933 there ) was a German resistance fighter against National Socialism .
Life
Berthold Haupt grew up in a working-class family . In 1919 he began his apprenticeship as a printer, joined the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) and the trade union and did active work in both political organizations. After his apprenticeship, he joined the SPD and became a functionary in the trade union, the SAJ and in the social democratic protection organization Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold . He was one of the active fighters against National Socialism in Dresden-Leuben . On February 26, 1933, after an election rally by the SPD, Berthold Haupt was attacked by the police and the SA as a participant in a march through the city center in front of the theater and shot by a police officer.
On September 27, 1945, the Berthold-Haupt-Strasse in Dresden was named after him, which connects the districts of Leuben and Kleinzschachwitz. There is a memorial stone in Kleinzschachwitz.
