Big Spender is a song written in 1966 by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields for the musical Sweet Charity . In the musical, the piece is sung by the striptease dancers, with the song setting the pace of the striptease. The choreography for the musical and the film was done by Bob Fosse .

In the version by Shirley Bassey the song reached number 21 in the UK Singles Chart. The song became Shirley Bassey's signature song over time. Your version was used in the film The Life and Death of Peter Sellers .

The song has been covered many times, for example by Peggy Lee , Bette Midler , Pearl Bailey , Bobby Hackett , Lana Del Rey , Shirley MacLaine , Helene Fischer and The Supremes . Queen played the song live in the 1970s and on July 12, 1986 at Wembley Stadium .
