Bilbobus is the name of an urban bus transport venture in Bilbao , Spain . The company's brand name is derived from the Basque name of the city of Bilbao (= Bilbo ).
The bus company belongs to the city of Bilbao. The buses can be recognized by their red color with large white lettering. 28 larger bus routes are in use within the city of Bilbao. Eight other, smaller lines (Auzobus) connect the city center with the immediate suburbs of Bilbao, and there are eight night lines (Gautxori).
Bilbobus recently received an award from the European Union for the best bus service. Bilbobus is part of the urban transport network, the other parts of which are operated by the Basque Autonomous Government. These include Metro Bilbao (subway) and EuskoTran ( tram Bilbao ). With the regional or supra-regional train networks of EuskoTren , FEVE and Renfe, there are good transfer connections.
