Umeå Picture Museum
The Bildmuseet is a public art institution in the Umeå Arts Campus of the University of Umea in the province of Västerbotten County in Sweden .
history
The Bildmuseet was set up by Umeå University in 1981, initially with the name BildMuseet . International contemporary art and visual culture have been shown in the museum since it was founded. Other activities include lectures on art topics, concerts, lectures, performances and workshops. The museum director, succeeding Jan-Erik Lundström, has been the art historian Katarina Pierre since 2011.
In 2012 the museum moved into a seven-story new building planned by the Danish architect Henning Larsen on the art campus on the Ume älv . The Umeå School of Art , the Umeå Design School and the Umeå School of Architecture are also located in this area .
