William "Billy" Flynn (born January 31, 1950 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is a retired American ice hockey player and coach . Since the end of his career he has been a member of the management of Eisbären Berlin . His son Patrick Flynn is also a hockey player.

Career

Flynn's playing career began in 1970 with the Boston University team from the National Collegiate Athletic Association , for which he played for two years as a striker . In addition to ice hockey, he successfully completed his studies in psychology and business administration at this college in 1972. After completing his studies, he moved to the International Hockey League and played there for two years for the Port Huron Wings , Columbus Golden Seals , Flint Generals and Dayton Gems .

In 1974 he came to Germany, where he was signed by SG Nürnberg . A year later he moved to EV Füssen and after two years with the Allgäuers , the striker went to RSC Bremerhaven , where he ended his playing career in 1982.

Trainer

After finishing his career, Flynn got into the coaching business. His first club was the EC Hannover in 1981 , which he left again in 1983 to accept an offer from EA Kempten . The next coaching station was SV Bayreuth a year later , which he left after one season to train the Schwenninger ERC in the Bundesliga . He achieved his greatest sporting success as a coach with the runner-up with the Italian first division club HC Meran . Further stations were then EV Zug and Lausanne HC before he returned to Germany in 1992 and looked after the Preussen Devils there . In 1995 he came to the Eisbären Berlin as sports director and trainer , but could not celebrate any sporting success with the club and was dismissed after the 1995/96 season .

Manager and Sports Director

However, he remained loyal to the club and was involved as a sports director and marketing manager. He is currently associated with the association in this capacity and is responsible for sponsoring at the EHC. In addition, between April 2005 and June 2015 he was managing director of the association together with Peter-John Lee .
