Billie Dawe

Billie "Bill" Dawe (born June 8, 1924 in Cochrane , Alberta , † May 20, 2013 in Edmonton , Alberta) was a Canadian ice hockey player . At the 1952 Winter Olympics , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Billie Dawe spent his career as a hockey player with the Edmonton Mercurys , with whom he represented Canada at the 1950 World Cup and 1952 at the Oslo Winter Olympics. After the Olympic Winter Games in 1952, he ended his career as a hockey player and from then on worked for the sponsor of his former ice hockey team, the Edmonton Waterloo Mercury car dealership . Dawe later became one of the company's managers and partners, along with his former teammate, Al Purvis .

International

For Canada , Dawe took part in the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo , where he won the gold medal with his team. In eight games, he scored six goals and six assists as team captain. He had previously won the gold medal with his team at the 1950 World Cup .
