On November 8th, 1999 the Austrian Lotteries started the game of bingo , the first broadcast took place on the following Saturday, November 13th. From September 6, 2014, the program was presented from a new studio with a new look. With the edition of June 24, 2017, the candidate games in the studio were redesigned. Since then, five groups of five people have competed and the audience was no longer restricted to one Austrian district .

On March 28, 2018, it was announced that the program and Die Briefloshow will be discontinued at the end of 2018. ORF and Lotteries justify this step by stating that these formats are no longer up to date.

target

The object of the game, as with most other bingo variants, is to tick all the numbers that are determined during the drawing. This takes place every week on Saturday. Numbers from 1 to 75 are eligible for the drawing. Bingo has no jackpot, the main prize is always raffled. It is played until a winner is determined. The exception is the Bingo Multi Bonus (see below), which runs on the jackpot principle.

In addition to the main prize, there are six ways to win. These would be Bingo Multi Bonus , Ring , Box , Ring 2nd Chance , Box 2nd Chance and Card . The "task" is to achieve bingo .

construction

Each tip costs 1.50 euros, whereby between two and four tips can be played on one ticket and thus the minimum bet is three euros. In each tip there are 20 numbers from 1 to 75 as well as five star fields (free fields). The playing field is divided into columns B, I, N, G and O. Each column contains numbers from a certain range: Column B from 1 to 15, Column I from 16 to 30, Column N from 31 to 45, Column G from 46 to 60 and Column O from 61 to 75. The first game round is called Box . Numbers (e.g. B 1, I 28, N 29, G 49 or O 62) are drawn until a player has ticked all nine inner fields of a bet, with three stars on each tip in the box -Fields that are considered to be checked. Then continue with the ring . All 16 outer fields of the lot must be marked here. Here, too, the drawing continues until a player succeeds. The main prize is in the bingo game round , all fields must be marked on the ticket in order to win. Once a player has bingo , the drawing is over. Whoever succeeds in ticking the box or the ring completely by then wins the so-called 2nd place . Bingo is a totalizer game . The amount of an individual's profit depends on the other winners and also on how many tips are involved. However, at the end of the drawing there is also a fixed odds game called Card in Bingo . For this game there is a card of the playing card suit heart next to each tip . If the correct card is drawn, you will be paid € 1.50, regardless of other winners or tips. The acceptance deadline is always at 13:00 on the day of the game. The program is then recorded. All numbers as well as the playing card are determined by a computer .

Candidate games

At the same time as the drawing there were games in which the audience was involved. The audience was divided into five groups. Each group was assigned a specific color. Since the redesign of the studio, the color sequence has been red - yellow - green - orange - blue (previously: red - yellow - pink - green - blue). All persons in a group wore T-shirts with the bingo lettering in the respective color. For each group one person came on stage as a player.

At the beginning of the boxing and ring game rounds, five numbers were determined in advance. Then another number was drawn and a quiz question was asked. The subject of the quiz question depended on the number just drawn:

  • B: Mixed things
  • I: International
  • N: nature and science
  • G: history and geography
  • O: Austria

For a correct answer (there were three possible answers per question) the candidate won 100 euros, for a wrong answer the four opponents each received 25 euros, i.e. H. the 100 euros were divided. Only the candidate who had entered his answer fastest was allowed to answer, while waiting until all candidates had decided on an answer. The audience could see their answers on the screens at the desks of the individual candidates. Before September 6, 2014, it was the turn of the player who pressed the button ( called the bumper ) fastest without the others having to decide on an answer option.

The candidate quiz ended as soon as a player could reach the "ring" or only one number before bingo! was. The player from the audience with the most money played Hopp or Tropp , all other candidates came away empty-handed. In this game the player could halve his earned money, but also double it. In the following game, the candidates in the winning group had to guess before each number drawn whether the next number would be Bingo! fell or not. A profit of 3,500 euros was guaranteed, which was in a transparent plastic case. However, this sum could increase before that - by 500 euros per number, if no player had a number before bingo! was. As soon as someone was missing just one number, each candidate on the winning team bet for himself; did he believe that now bingo! fell, it went to the center of the stage. All candidates who were on stage at the right moment won the suitcase. If no one was in the middle of the stage at this point, the sum of the money case increased in the coming week by the amount not paid out.

Bingo Multi Bonus

In addition to the game, there is also the Bingo Multi Bonus , which is only endowed with 50,000 euros and increases by 10,000 euros with each drawing until a player does not need longer than the 43rd number drawn to tick all the numbers on his ticket to be able to. This player wins the respective amount once. If several players crack the Bingo Multi Bonus , the winnings are divided.

Others

Since the redesign of the studio, an orange-pink-red color has dominated this and the displays on the screen. Before that, the color blue predominated. The acoustic signals were now more subtle. Up until the June 26, 2017 edition, the audience in the hall came from a specific Austrian district . The district was announced two weeks before the broadcast and then you could register by phone.
