The biolitec AG , headquartered in Vienna , Austria , claims to one of the world's leading manufacturer of laser medicine devices. The company develops and produces medical diode lasers and fiber optic laser probes.

The history of the company began with the founding of " CeramOptec GmbH ", today's subsidiary of biolitec AG in Bonn by Wolfgang Neuberger in 1988. A branch in the USA was opened in 1989; two years later in Malaysia . Biolitec AG was founded in 1999 and floated on the stock exchange with effect from November 15, 2000.

The formerly listed company was listed in the Neuer Markt of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and in the Entry Standard until 2014 . The main shareholder is Wolfgang Neuberger indirectly through "BioMed Technology Holdings Ltd.", which is reported on Labuan in Malaysia.

Products

Biolitec AG primarily develops laser devices and laser fibers for minimally invasive, gentle laser therapies. The medical laser procedures are offered primarily for the treatment of benign prostate enlargement and for the removal of varicose veins , hemorrhoids and anal fistulas . With the new therapy HOLA ™ for gynecology, myomas of the uterus are treated. Lasers for surgical applications are mainly used in the areas of aesthetics, orthopedics and ENT . The latest development from biolitec is the LEONARDO® laser, which has two different wavelengths. This means that the laser can be used in various medical fields and is versatile.

Another business area is photodynamic therapy for the treatment of cancer, in which tumor cells are destroyed by means of a light-sensitive drug and controlled irradiation with laser light.

The treatment of head and neck cancer with photodynamic therapy and the drug Foscan from biolitec AG is currently approved by the EU health authority for the palliative treatment of head and neck cancer throughout Europe. The ELVeS (Endo Laser Vein System) Radial ™ laser treatment for the removal of varicose veins is the world's most frequently used laser system for the treatment of venous insufficiency.
