Birgit Arnold

Birgit Arnold (born July 24, 1951 in Wiedelah , Goslar district ) is a German politician ( FDP / DVP ) and historian. She was a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament from 2006 to 2011.

Life

After attending elementary school in Lengde , Goslar district and two years of secondary school in Vienenburg , she completed her Abitur in Goslar. From 1970 to 1972 he studied at the Lower Saxony University of Education , Hildesheim department . In 1972 she switched to studying German and history at the universities of Marburg and Heidelberg , which she completed in 1977/78 with the state examination for teaching at grammar schools. In 1994 she was awarded a PhD from the Philosophical Faculty of Heidelberg University. phil. (History) PhD. From 1995 to 2006 she was employed as a historian in the Mannheim city archive and mainly dealt with regional history during the Nazi era .

Birgit Arnold is married and has three children.

Political activity

Arnold joined the FDP in 1993 and was chairwoman of the Schriesheim local association from 1995 to 2002 . From 1994 to 2002 she was a member of the Rhein-Neckar district board and deputy district chairwoman as a press officer . She is a founding member and was deputy state chairwoman of the Liberal Women of Baden-Württemberg from 1999 to 2001. From 1999 to 2006 she was a councilor in Schriesheim and from 2004 to 2006 she was a district councilor in the Rhein-Neckar district. From 2006 to 2010 she was district chairwoman of the Liberal Women in the Electoral Palatinate .

In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2006 , she was elected a member of parliament. She won a second mandate in the Weinheim constituency . She was the spokesperson for education and women's policy in the state parliament and was particularly committed to integrating disabled people into schools. In 2009 she became deputy chairwoman of the parliamentary group. She was not re- elected in the 2011 election.
