Blair Witch 2 or Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 is a horror film from 2000 , which was made as a sequel to the hit movie Blair Witch Project . With Blair Witch a further continuation was created in 2016.

action

Following the success of the Blair Witch Project , thousands of tourists from around the world flock to the location of the film in Burkittsville , Maryland , to investigate the legend of Elly Kedward, the Witch of Blair.

The mentally unstable Jeff tries to profit from people's curiosity and offers a tour of the forest where the horrific murders that are attributed to the witch took place. His first customers are the couple Tristen and Stephen, who are researching a book, as well as the self-confessed witch Erica and the clairvoyant Kim.

The small group spends the night in the ruins of the house in which Rustin Parr is said to have murdered seven children 60 years ago on behalf of the Witch of Blair. The five of them get drunk and are only briefly interrupted by another group of tourists who are lured by Jeff to another crime scene, the Coffin Rock.

When Jeff's group wakes up the next morning, they all have a torn film and can't remember anything. Your belongings have been thoroughly ransacked, Tristen and Stephen's notes have been torn up, and Jeff's camera equipment has disappeared. At least you can still find the videos with the recordings you made last night.

Suddenly, she is six weeks pregnant and miscarries after dreaming shortly before that she was drowning her child in the river. The group drives to the hospital, where Tristen has a vision of a girl who was murdered by Rustin Parr at the time.

Jeff takes the group to his remote home to review the video footage and find out what happened last night. The five are tormented by increasingly terrible visions and slowly seem to be losing their minds. Above all, Tristen changes more and more and sees terrible images from the past through the eyes of Elly Kedward, the witch of Blair.

Tristen reports that 200 years ago Elly Kedward was tied to a tree, tortured by a group of children, and finally hanged.

In the meantime, Erica disappears without a trace and is found dead in the closet by Jeff a little later. Almost at the same time, the group learns that the other tourists they met in the forest the night before were murdered and gutted at Coffin Rock. Jeff and his people are considered the prime suspects.

When Jeff plays the video recordings backwards on Tristen's instruction, the group sees what really happened that night: led by Tristen, they celebrated a wild orgy and finally murdered and gutted the other tourists in a frenzy of blood.

When the other drama confronts her, she claims to be Elly Kedward and is hanged in front of the camera by Stephen, whom she provokes to the blood.

At the police station, however, the recording of Tristen's death shows something else: the video does not show any of Tristen's strange behavior or provocations, instead Stephen, Jeff and Kim appear as the insane murderers who also killed Erica.

criticism

Lexicon of the international film : “After the bogus documentary first part, which consisted of supposedly authentic video material, this sequel was staged like a conventional horror film, which is based on the same witch myth, but lacks any charm of the predecessor. As a mere genre product, only moderately exciting. "
