The leaf beetles , also gray weevils ( Sitona ) form a genus in the family of the weevils (Curculionidae).

features

These are four to eight millimeters long, gray to brownish-gray beetles , which particularly eat the leaves of field beans , peas , clover , alfalfa and lupine . The legless larvae feed on roots or root nodules.

species

In recent years, several species from the genus Sitona have been relocated to the genera Charagmus and Coelositona .

The genus Sitona is represented in Europe with 54 species (as of 2018).
