Leaf trace

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The leaf trace is the trace of the vascular bundles that lead from the stem axis into a leaf . The leaf trace is referred to as single or multi-stranded depending on the number of bundles it contains. The single bundle is called the leaf trace strand . In the case of some deciduous mosses , leaf traces are also used analogously.

The name was introduced in 1858 by Johannes von Hanstein in his work On the connection between leaf position and the construction of the dicotyledon wood ring .
