The Blue Night is a major art event that has been taking place in downtown Nuremberg every year since 2000 at the beginning of May . With an average of around 130,000 visitors, it is considered to be the largest culture and museum night in Germany.

There are a number of art stations under a common concept (music, dance, theater, cabaret, museums, guided tours, performances and installations) with around 100 individual events.

For the ambience and for visual identification, the entire street lighting in the city center is colored blue, the individual event locations are also illuminated with strong blue light and blue light steles with information boards are set up. The core time of the event is from 7 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. In addition, there are always numerous street performers , provided that the space and weather conditions allow.

For visiting the art events in buildings and inner courtyards, sponsors will be solicited to co-finance the major event and a very moderate one-time admission price will be charged, which applies to all venues. Children under 12 years of age have free access when accompanied by a legal guardian.

From all art actions, 12 projects will be selected in advance to participate in the competition for the € 5,000 audience award. The visitors decide on the award of this award .
