Blut gegen Blut is the debut album by the Berlin rapper Massiv . The album was released on July 14, 2006 via Horrorkore Entertainment , the MC Basstard label . Massiv, who toured with Taktlo $$ , MC Basstard and King Orgasmus One before the release of Blood Against Blood , came to Berlin for the first time in 1999. Later the Massif, who grew up in Pirmasens , persuaded his family to move to Berlin. He became the first rapper MC Basstard signed, and initially remained so. Due to disagreements, the rapper split from horror core in August 2006. In addition to his debut album, the collab mixtape Horrorkore Mixtape Part 1 , which Massiv had recorded with MC Basstard, was released a month earlier (June 16, 2006) on the label of the same name.

Ghetto song

Ghettolied is Massiv's most famous track. The song led to the development of a considerable street hype, which was expressed, among other things, in the fact that the song spread as a ringtone all over Berlin. After ghetto song had been circulating in Berlin for just two weeks, the video snippet for MASSIV / ghetto song / blood against blood was filmed. Although there was no advertising for the shoot in advance, instead of the planned 50 extras, 400 people appeared who supported the rapper and wanted to be involved in the video shoot. After filming was completed, the numerous fans sought contact with Massiv for three hours. On May 21, 2006 the professionally produced video for Ghettolied ( Beathoavenz Remix ) , which was later shown on Vivaplus in the program Get The Clip Night , was filmed. After stickers were distributed all over Berlin and the shoot was advertised, 1200 people turned up to attend the video shoot. A large part of the shooting took place on Leopoldplatz in Berlin and was secured by 50 security guards.

illustration

The cover shows Massiv with a bare torso and head. The upper body is muscular, massive and covered with tattoos, which makes it clear why it is also called the “German 50 Cent ”. The album name Blut gegen Blut can be read in squiggly font at chest level . The consumer notice is located in the lower right corner.

criticism

The criticisms of blood against blood were mixed. The hip-hop magazine Juice rated the first version of the album with four out of a possible six "crowns". The “consistently high-class production” and the “coherent guest contributions” were positively highlighted in the review.

Blood against blood definitely has substance. [...] Massiv spits simple, but therefore extremely haunting flows in a piercing voice, skillfully alternating between pure aggression and encouraging lines, making it clear that he is not only a tough guy, but knows very well about the sensitivities of his' brothers '. Sentences that the average youth activist would certainly get angry with as glorifying drugs or violence are repeatedly followed by expressions of solidarity on the street, serious admonitions to young people and fervent creeds. [...] He [manages] time and again to add that certain something to the familiar street rap image, which turns any gang star rapper into an integrative figure. "

- Extract from the evaluation of the juice

The editors of the Laut.de website wrote a review on blood against blood as part of the publication of the re-release . The album received one of a possible five rating points. This is the worst possible rating in this rating system. The editor in charge criticizes the fact that Massiv partly contradicts itself in the songs and that the texts often consist of catchphrases . The only aspect that is positively highlighted is the quality of the beats from Woroc, Keyza Soze, DJ Desue and Flashgordon.

"" It's massive that erased German rap. " How true. What is offered here has nothing to do with the German language or rap. Even in the intro it is less the title than the grammatical goat where my head fucks. Rap lives from flow, from rhymes, from jokes, from stories - none of that can be found on Blood Against Blood . The only thing worth hearing about Massiv's performance - besides the almost Franconian rolled 'R' - is the insane undertone with which he squeezes out his lines: If his vocal cords were eyes, they would be twisted so that only the whites can be seen that pleases . Apart from that, Blood Against Blood serves at best as a prime example of involuntary comedy. 'I confidently wear the handcuffs, do Ramadan until every country knows me.' "
