Bobby Hart (born February 19, 1939 in Phoenix , Arizona ; actually Robert Luke Harshman ) is an American pop musician and songwriter. His greatest successes were his work for The Monkees in the songwriting duo Boyce and Hart .

Harshman met Tommy Boyce in Los Angeles in 1959 . In the early 1960s he worked as a songwriter with his colleague John Marascalco , who made it possible for him to have two single releases on Infinity Records as an A&R manager . Tommy Boyce, with whom he began to write songs, also published there. In 1965 he toured with Teddy Randazzo and the Dazzlers , with whom he wrote Hurt So Bad , which was the follow-up hit of Going Out of My Head for Little Anthony and the Imperials . In the spring of 1965 he intensified his collaboration with Boyce, as the songwriting duo Boyce and Hart they became the house writers of the television sitcom about the career of the Monkees in 1966. The partnership lasted with several interruptions until the 1970s, when both released three albums together and founded the supergroup Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart with the ex-Monkees Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones .

Further collaborations resulted with Wes Farrell and Danny Janssen . With the latter he wrote two top ten hits within a year in 1974: Keep on Singing for Helen Reddy and Something's Wrong with Me for Austin Roberts . Bobby Hart in 1983 was awarded an Oscar nomination for his song Over You , which he shared with Austin Roberts for the film Tender Mercies (Tender Mercies) had written.
