Bondi is a district of the Australian metropolis of Sydney , New South Wales , and is located about seven kilometers east of the Central Business District (city center) in Waverley Council . Bondi is largely a residential area of ​​medium to high standard with a main shopping street, Bondi Road. 9,358 people live in the district (as of 2016).

The commercial center of this area is in the neighboring suburb of Bondi Junction . The famous Bondi Beach , which is not far in the neighboring district of the same name, is of great importance .

Australia's first high- profile child abduction occurred in Bondi . Eight-year-old Graeme Thorne was kidnapped after his parents won a huge amount in an opera house lottery , and a ransom demand was made by the perpetrator (Stephan Leslie Bradley), who lives in Clontarf , a suburb of Sydney, Australia . There was a large-scale manhunt involving Australian troops. However, on August 16, 1960, Graeme was found murdered.
