The  Bootshandel-Magazin  appeared monthly as an independent magazine and was a trade journal  for sailors and motorboat drivers that was distributed throughout the German-speaking region  and was founded in Berlin  in 1998  . The last issue in this form appeared on July 27, 2016. Since August 1, 2016, Bootshandel has been taken over by MuP Verlag GmbH and is now merged with the MuP specialist magazine SKIPPER as SKIPPER-Bootshandel. The magazine is distributed nationwide at kiosks in all regions of Germany and selected European water sports areas as well as by subscription.

content

Originally conceived as an offer sheet , Bootshandel-Magazin has developed into the largest German-language magazine since 2004 through its own boat tests, the continuous expansion of specialist reporting and a visually appealing design by art director Beate Autering , which appeals to both motorboat drivers and sailors.

Published monthly, the permanent rubrics were usually four tests of current motor boats and sailing yachts from 18 to 45 feet in length, dinghies or inflatable boats, plus portraits of interesting boats, practical tips for boat owners, purchase advice from boat experts and extensive reporting on new products. Special attention was paid to classic sailing and motor boats. Around 400 boat tests have been published to date, most of them with my own photography.

Monthly changing main topics were devoted to a wide range of topics from green boats (alternative sports boat drives) to maritime events such as sailing weeks (e.g. Kiel Week ) and boat fairs (e.g. Hanseboot Hamburg) to man overboard - what can women do? . Extensively illustrated do-it-yourself workshops have been supplemented by detailed product comparisons since 2010.

In addition, the Bootshandel-Magazin offered one of the most extensive used boat platforms for private photo classified ads in printed form in German-speaking countries. This service will be continued in the SKIPPER Bootshandel magazine.

further activities

The portal website bootshandel-magazin.de was linked with skipper-online.de as part of the merger of the two magazine brands on August 1, 2016.

Germany’s by far the largest indoor used boat market with up to 200 boats at times was organized by Bootshandel-Magazin from 2003 to 2011 and held every November at the Berlin exhibition center as part of the Boot und Fun Berlin boat fair . In the summer of 2010, an inwater used boat market was realized for the first time in Brandenburg an der Havel , followed by the premiere of a maritime parts market in Berlin in April 2011. A used boat market for the Beach & Boat boat fair at Messe Leipzig has been held since 2013 .

The editorial special page Berlin am Wasser , which appears several times a year from 2007 to 2011 in the Saturday edition of the Tagesspiegel , was created by the editors of the Bootshandel-Magazin.

From 2009 to 2011 there was the Boothandel-Magazin stage at boat fairs in Hamburg and Berlin with practice-oriented lectures for boat owners, potential boat buyers and water sports enthusiasts.

Until it was discontinued as an independent title, Bootshandel-Magazin was the only German boat magazine to have one of the jurors for the international Best of Boats Award , the award for motorboat innovations from the user's point of view, which was first presented in Berlin in November 2014, among boat journalists from 15 nations (as of November 2016 ) according to tests actually carried out, which in their opinion are rated best motorboats in categories such as Best for Beginners, Best for Family, Best for Fun and Best for Nature.

Since the merger of the two magazines Bootshandel-Magazin and SKIPPER, they appear as SKIPPER-Bootshandel in the magazine trade and are also present at trade fairs under this name after the merger.

history

Since spring 2007, Bootshandel-Magazin has belonged to the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group as a subsidiary of the Berlin daily newspaper Der Tagesspiegel , and from June 1, 2009 to Dieter von Holtzbrinck Medien GmbH (DvH Medien). The Bootshandel-Magazin was published by Der Tagesspiegel GmbH from spring 2014 to July 2016. With the sale of the title rights on August 1, 2016, Bootshandel-Magazin no longer exists as an independent journal title.

From 2009 to 2016, Bootshandel-Magazin had its editorial and publishing headquarters on Askanischer Platz in Berlin's Kreuzberg district in the Tagesspiegel publishing house. From 1998 to 2009 the company was based near the Spree in the Treptow district .

Since August 1, 2016, Bootshandel has been taken over by MuP Verlag GmbH, which has also been publishing the SKIPPER magazine since 2013. Bootshandel and SKIPPER became the magazine for sailing and motor boats, SKIPPER Bootshandel.
