Life

Bukowski is the son of a lawyer, grew up in Ilz and attended the Fürstenfeld high school. After graduation he studied at the Karl-Franzens University Graz Law and graduated in 1974 with a doctorate (Dr. iur.). During his high school and student days, Bukowski was a drummer in rock bands such as Music Machine , from 1972 with Magic 69 (later MAGIC ) and from 1977 a singer. In 1971 he performed with Music Machine at the Styrian music festival Popendorf 71 . Two rock albums with German lyrics were created, which were very well received by critics, but were only a respectable success commercially. In 1980 the third album, "Sick", with English lyrics was created, after which the band broke up after numerous concerts.

From 1979 to 1991 Bukowski ran the Magic Sound Studio together with Andi Beit. It was there that the recordings for “Cafe Passé” by Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung , “Schwarze Energie” by Peter Weibel's Hotel Morphila Orchestra , albums from STS and Bukowski's first solo album were made. His single "Wear my love like a coat" was number 1 in the Ö3 charts three times . The album "100 hours a day" was awarded a gold record in 1990.

After eight years of absence, Bukowski has been back on the concert stage since 2001. His book “Unter bunt Hunden”, an autobiography in anecdotes, was published in 2013. He was the protagonist in the 90-minute documentary Fritze with the syringe by Markus Mörth , which premiered in spring 2017 at Diagonale.

On October 20, 2017, the studio album is there a life before death? . It contains articles and a. by Depeche Mode drummer Christian Eigner , Niko Stoessl, I-Wolf and ex sofa surfer Wolfgang Schloegl, Bukowski's live band Buntehund, the brass section by Parov Stelar and Ernst Molden.
