Bosch Thermotechnology branch in Prague

Bosch Thermotechnik is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH and arose from the takeover and merger of the traditional manufacturers Buderus Heiztechnik GmbH and Junkers , which will be continued as brands . Bosch Thermotechnik's corporate headquarters are in Wetzlar.

History of the company

With the takeover of Junkers & Co. in 1932, Bosch entered the heating appliance market. After the Second World War, Junkers was only a purely German producer for decades. That changed in 1988 with the takeover of the Portuguese company Vulcano Termo-Domésticos, which until then had manufactured gas water heaters under a Junkers license. Just one year later, the production of gas hot water heaters was relocated from Junkers' headquarters in Wernau (Neckar) to Portugal. Further acquisitions were made in a relatively short time. In 1992 the British producer of gas combi boiler for heating and hot water as well as oil boilers Worcester was taken over.

In order to assert itself in Europe and in an increasingly tough competition, the Thermotechnology division was created in 1995, which brought together all the companies in the Bosch Group that manufacture heaters and the accessories required for them.

With the takeover of Buderus AG by Bosch and the establishment of BBT Thermotechnik GmbH, which merged the heating technology activities of both companies, Bosch Thermotechnik developed into the largest European manufacturer of heating products and hot water solutions in 2003/04.

On November 10, 2004, the Swedish heat pump manufacturer IVT (Industriell Värme Teknik) was taken over. In August 2009, the manufacturer of steam and heating boilers Loos International was taken over.

On April 1, 2011, Köhler & Ziegler Anlagentechnik GmbH , Lollar was renamed Bosch KWK Systeme GmbH ; As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bosch Thermotechnik, this company mainly produces combined heat and power units in the power range between 20 and 2000 kW, as well as ORC systems.

Bosch HomeCom was launched in October 2015. The portal-based application enables heating and hot water supply to be controlled.
