Bartolomeo Suardi called Bramantino (* 1465 in Milan or Bergamo , † 1530 in Milan) was an Italian architect and painter .

Live and act

Bramantino was Donato Bramante's assistant for a while , from where he got his nickname Bramantino (little Bramante). He also accompanied him to Rome, where he worked in the Vatican.

In Milan, the porch of the Church of San Nazaro (1518) and various paintings in the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana and Pinacoteca di Brera (Adoration of Christ, a three-part Madonna altar, the fresco of a Madonna with two angels) are attributed to him. He is said to have executed Bramante's painterly designs.

In 1523 he worked as an engineer during the siege of Milan by the French in the service of Duke Francesco Maria II . As a painter he was initially under the influence of Vincenzo Foppa , then Leonardo da Vinci . He died in 1530, probably in Milan.
