Brandon Richard Flowers (* 21st June 1981 in Henderson , Nevada ) is the front man, singer , keyboardist and occasional bassist of from Las Vegas coming indie rock - band The Killers .

Personal

Flowers was born near Las Vegas to Scottish - Lithuanian parents, the youngest of six children . His mother was a housewife and his father worked in a grocery store. When Flowers was five years old, his father joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . When he was eight, the family moved to Nephi , Utah . Flowers lived there until the beginning of his junior college days, for which he moved back to Las Vegas; there he lived with his aunt.

Brandon's twelve year older brother Shane, who is featured in the Killers song Sam's Town , is considered to be his most important musical reference point. Shane showed him The Smith's videos and U2 's Rattle-and-Hum documentary. His older brother also introduced him to bands like The Cars , The Cure and Morrissey . Musically Flowers is Anglophile and a fan of English bands such as New Order , The Smiths, Pet Shop Boys , Depeche Mode and Oasis . He describes the Pet Shop Boys song Being Boring , especially the line “I never dreamt that I would get to be / The creature that I always meant to be” as a strong influence on his life. Flowers said, "It was really weird because other kids were buying Tool and Nirvana and I was buying The Cars and The Psychedelic Furs . I was pretty alienated as a kid." (It was really weird because the other kids were buying Tool and Nirvana , and I was buying The Cars and The Psychedelic Furs . I was pretty estranged then.)

In a private celebration in Hawaii , Flowers married his long-time girlfriend Tana on August 2, 2005. The couple have three sons, born in 2007, 2009 and 2011.

Career

After Flowers dropped out of college, he was a bellhop for a short time at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. He later attended an Oasis concert and realized that he wanted a transition from a keyboard band to a real rock band. He started looking for a guitarist. He responded to an advertisement Dave Keuning placed in the Las Vegas Weekly stating his influences and preferred bands. After frequent bassist and drummer changes, bassist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci joined them. In 2002 they appeared for the first time under the name "The Killers".

On April 29, 2010, Brandon announced to NME online magazine that he was working on a solo album. However, this does not mean that he will get out of the band. The album Flamingo was finally released on September 3, 2010. His second solo album The Desired Effect was released on May 15, 2015.
