Branko Bošković ( Cyrillic : Бранко Бошковић ), (born June 21, 1980 in Bačka Topola ) is a former Montenegrin football player .

Career

Branko Bošković, whose father comes from Montenegro, began his career at FK Mogren and moved to FK Red Star Belgrade in January 1999 .

With Red Star Belgrade he was champion in 2000 and 2001 and cup winner in 2000 and 2002. For the 2003/04 season he moved to Paris Saint-Germain for 6 million euros and was runner-up and cup winner in his first season. In the 2005/06 season he was loaned to ES Troyes AC . After his contract was not renewed in the summer of 2006, Bošković was without a club and kept fit at FK Belgrade.

In January 2007 he moved to SK Rapid Vienna , with whom he became Austrian champion in 2008.

In the summer of 2010 he turned his back on Vienna and moved to DC United in Washington, DC in the USA . Until the end of June 2012 he had the status of a Designated Player there . H. his salary did not fall under the general rules of Major League Soccer . On June 29, 2012, DC United announced that Bošković had signed a new one-year contract and is no longer a designated player.

On January 19, 2013 SK Rapid Wien announced the renewed commitment of Bošković. After 29 league games and four goals scored, his contract was not extended in the summer of 2014, which meant he was without a club.

National team

For the national team of Serbia and Montenegro , he played twelve times and scored two goals. He last played in October 2005 in the World Cup qualifier against Lithuania . After the separation of the confederation, Bošković decided to play for Montenegro in the future , whose football association (Fudbalski Savez Crne Gore - FSCG) is headed by the former Yugoslav national player Dejan Savićević .

In the first game of the newly founded Montenegrin federation, Bošković played against Hungary, played through and took over the captain's loop after substituting captain Mirko Vučinić towards the end of the game.
