Brendon Boyd Urie (born April 12, 1987 in St. George , Utah ) is an American singer, songwriter and musician. He is known as the lead singer of the band Panic! at the Disco , in which he is the only remaining founding member.

Early childhood

When Urie was two years old, his family moved to Las Vegas . He is the fifth and youngest child of Grace and Boyd Urie. Urie is about a quarter of Polynesian descent from Hawaii on the part of his mother. He grew up in an LDS family but lost his faith at age 17 due to dissatisfaction with the Church and disbelief in its ideologies. Urie attended Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas, where he met Brent Wilson while taking guitar lessons. He worked at the Tropical Smoothie Cafe to pay for his band's practice room. In the cafe he often sang for customers. He explains: I sang everything I heard back then, but I also accepted suggestions. I remember singing Scorpion and WASP songs. 80s anthems were usually good for tips. It was a lot of different things. Some people liked it, some didn't. I had to respect the wishes of others, but a few people asked me to sing for a tip. That was always fun. (I would sing anything I was listening to at the time, but I was down to take requests. I remember singing some Scorpions songs, some WASP 80s anthems are usually good for tips. It was a huge range of stuff. Some people liked it , and some people didn't. I had to respect other people's wishes, but I had a couple people come in who would ask me to sing for a tip. That's always fun.)
