Literaturhaus in Neubrandenburger Gartenstrasse 6

The Brigitte-Reimann-Literaturhaus in Neubrandenburg , Gartenstrasse 6, is a literature center in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which was closed at the end of August 2009 due to withholding funds of € 10,000 from the Schwerin Ministry of Culture by the sponsoring association, the Neubrandenburg eV Literature Center. The literary center was reopened in November 2009 after the sponsoring association and the Ministry of Education and Culture had agreed on a temporary solution. According to the sponsoring association, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has promised the funding necessary for the operation.

At this point was the house where Brigitte Reimann was last with her fourth husband Dr. Rudolf Burgartz lived until shortly before her death in 1973 . The house planned as a memorial collapsed during the renovation work. Today's literary center was rebuilt in its place. In addition to a picture gallery, it also contains Brigitte Reimann's library in her bookcase, which the city of Neubrandenburg acquired from her estate in 1995 . Other items from her possession can be seen there.
