Bruce Yandle

Bruce Yandle (born August 12, 1933 ) is an American economist . He is married and lives in Clemson, South Carolina .

Yandle graduated from Mercer University in Macon to the Bachelor and earned the degrees of Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Philosophy at Georgia State University . He is a private lecturer at George Mason University at the Mercatus Center there . Yandle is an advisor to the government and lectures for MPs. He is the Dean Emeritus of Clemson University . He was executive director of the Federal Trade Commission and senior economist on the US President's Advisory Board on Price Stability from 1976 to 1978.

His theory became known Bootleggers and Baptists (German to bootleggers and Baptists ), which states is that two ideologically and ethically incompatible groups support each other unintentionally when both dogmatically pursue their goals.

Before starting his academic career, Yandle worked in the mechanical engineering industry for fifteen years. It publishes a quarterly economic policy report by an institute at Clemson University.
