Brunner & Brunner were Austrian representatives of the hit . The duo consisted of the brothers Karl Brunner (born February 28, 1955 in Graz ), called Charly, and Johann Brunner (born March 19, 1958 in Tamsweg ), called Jogl, and between 1992 and 2010 they were able to regularly engage in singles and albums place in the German, Austrian and Swiss charts.

life and work

Karl and Johann Brunner live in Murau in Styria , where they grew up. Her grandfather was the resistance fighter Karl Brunner .

The two brothers started their musical careers as part of the five-piece formation Happy . Their debut album Tausend Träume was released in 1985. From 1987 to 1990 they were only on the road as a duo under the name Happy and released two further albums and various singles.

The A&R manager of their record company responsible for the band changed the band name to Brunner & Brunner on his own initiative in 1991 when the single Weil Dein Herz Dich betr goes (composer: Alfons Weindorf , lyricist: Bernd Demokratie ) was released . Initially not very happy, the musicians now refer to this idea as “this gentleman's great moment”. With the albums Darum lieb 'ich Dich (1993) and In the Name of Love (1994), Brunner & Brunner made it into the top 20 of the German album charts.

Karl and Johann Brunner were also successful together as composers for other artists. In 1991 they won the Grand Prix of Folk Music with the title Hast a bisserl Zeit for mi, interpreted by the Alpentrio Tirol . In 1994 Brunner & Brunner composed the Austrian Eurovision contribution For Peace in the World for Petra Frey .

In 1996, Brunner & Brunner changed the record company - away from the Austrian independent label Koch Music to the internationally oriented Ariola , at that time part of the Bertelsmann subsidiary BMG Music Publishing . The most commercially successful phase of the duo falls during the work phase at Ariola. The album Leben , released in 1996, landed at number 1 on the Austrian album charts. The song Wir sind alle über 40 (2001), which reached number 78 in the German single charts, is her best-known song to this day.

In March 2007, Brunner & Brunner were awarded the golden record in Austria for the album I love you , which also meant saying goodbye to the Ariola label .

After switching to the Electrola label, which is assigned to the Universal Music Group , the 15th and to date last studio album by Brunner & Brunner, entitled In den Himmel und zurück , was released on March 13, 2009 .

In the Musikantenstadl on September 19, 2009, the new song title Chocolate was presented and the end of Brunner & Brunner's career at the beginning of 2010 was announced. As part of an extensive farewell tour, Karl and Johann Brunner ended their musical activities together.

On November 18, 2011, Charly Brunner released his first solo single, Whatever you do, as a download on Ariola . The album I believe in love followed on March 2nd, 2012 . Since 2013 he has formed a successful duo with Simone Stelzer . Their joint album Das kleine große Leben reached number 4 on the Austrian music charts. For this they received an Amadeus Award in the Schlager category.

On March 13th, 2015 Jogl Brunner released his first album Lebenslust on Electrola and thus started his solo career after four years of absence from the stage. The first single from the album is You fell like a star out of the sky .
