Buddy is a German comedy film from 2013 with Alexander Fehling as Eddie and Mina Tander as Lisa in the leading roles. The title role is played by the director, screenwriter and producer Michael Herbig .

The film is about Eddie, whose life is on the brink when one day a guardian angel appears and tries to help him.
After the death of his father, Eddie, who was now extremely wealthy, took over his successful energy drink company. Instead of taking care of the business, Eddie leads a party life, so that the company is on the verge of bankruptcy and Eddie's reputation is ruined. Only his guardian angel Buddy can save him. However, only Eddie can see him, which is why he gets more problems in public and is mistaken for a psychopath . Buddy, who is a guardian angel for the first time, tries to bring Eddie together with Lisa, a single geriatric nurse . For this purpose and to get Eddie to listen to the Guardian Angel at all, Eddie is tortured with permanent vocal interludes, which the Buddy, who is only visible and audible to Eddie, performs incessantly and in various costumes.
Only after Eddie's attempts to get rid of the annoying Guardian Angel by psychiatrist and by suicide (which Buddy prevents) does he often start to hear strange advice from Buddy's and actually falls in love with Lisa after she was sitting in the VW bus, who ran over Eddie - who was on the hunt for a thief.
As if by a miracle, Eddie survives the accident through his guardian angel and begins a relationship with Lisa - which ends in an interpersonal catastrophe as a result of the decline of his company with the intriguing executives there. An attempt by Sammy (Lisa's son) to bring them back together also ends badly because Eddie and Sammy are involved in a bank robbery. Although he can take out the bank robber by singing a completely inappropriate song (who is identical to the thief he used to pursue), Lisa decides to travel to Cape Town with Sammy , where her mother lives.
Shortly before boarding the ship, Eddie succeeds in getting Lisa to change her mind by transforming the entire check-in hall into a dancing and singing flash mob that has been prepared well in advance, including a marriage proposal. After this happy ending, the identity of Buddy's is revealed in a short final scene: He is Sammy's father, who died three years earlier and who has returned to make Lisa happy again.
