Bull City Red

Bull City Red , actually George Washington , was an American blues musician from Durham , North Carolina , also known as "Bull City".

Bull City Red was a virtuoso on the washboard . Little is known about his life. He led a group that included Blind Boy Fuller , Sonny Terry and Reverend Gary Davis , a blind trio with washboard players. Red, Fuller and Terry also made some gospel recordings with guitarist Sonny Jones as Brother George and His Sanctified Singers .

Between 1935 and 1939, Bull City Red made a number of recordings that also included playing guitar and singing. In the early 1940s, after Fuller's death, recordings followed with Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, among others .
