The house at Burgstraße 1 is a listed building in the town of Gernrode, part of the town of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt . The Froschkönig café is located in it .

The building is located in the old town of Gernröder, east of the collegiate church St. Cyriakus and is registered as a villa in the local register of monuments.
Architecture and history
The single-storey plastered house was built in 1906 in massive construction as a mayor's house. Its eaves face the street, and the facade is symmetrically structured. In the center is a risalit , the slightly protruding upper part of which is designed as a half-timbered gable . On the north side of the gable there is a covered entrance and a half-timbered bay window . The house has decorative elements made of natural stone that are typical for the construction period and look rustic .
The mayor's apartment was on the top floor of the building. On the ground floor, the official and living room, which was master bedroom and the Council meeting room.
Dietrich Wilde , who briefly acted as mayor in 1945, moved into the house in mid-June 1945. In addition, several refugees were admitted to the building.
In 1998, new owners bought the property and started renovations. A mayor Gernrodes from the GDR era lived in the house until 2005 . On the occasion of the 14th Harz Festival , the Froschkönig café was opened on July 1, 2006 on the ground floor of the house. It has 34 places plus additional places in the garden. The café was furnished with furniture from around 1900.
