Burst was a Swedish progressive metal band from Kristinehamn , formed in 1993 under the name Dislars and disbanded in 2009.
history
The band was founded in 1993 under the name Dislars by singer Linus Jägerskog, guitarist Jonas Rydberg, bassist Jesper Liveröd and drummer Patrik Hultin. In the beginning they played simple crustcore , grindcore and hardcore punk . However, the music became more complex over time, so they changed their name to Burst to underline this change. The band released two EPs, one of which was produced by Dan Swanö . The band also held concerts all over Scandinavia with other groups such as Breach , Refused and Abhinanda . As a result, the band reached a contract with Melon Records . With this label the EP Shadowcaster was released in 1996 and the debut album Two Faced in 1998. In 2000 the album Conquest: Writhe was released on vinyl via Putrid Filth Conspiracy and on CD on Prank Records .
The EP In Coveting Ways followed in 2002 with Chrome Saint Magnus . The EP was recorded in Studio Fredman by Fredrik Reinedahl and Fredrik Nordström . This was followed by a tour through Europe and a few appearances in Sweden and Norway . Then began work on the album Prey On Life . The album was again recorded by Fredrik Reinedahl in his studio Phlat Planet . In addition, Burst reached a contract with Relapse Records , so that the album was released in 2003. The band also toured the UK , Europe and Scandinavia with bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan , Mastodon , Poison the Well and Alchemist . During these tours the band was already writing new material. The album Origo was recorded at Music-a-Maticby under the direction of Fredrik Reinedahl and Henryk Lipp .
