Bzommar Monastery

Bzommar (also Zmmar , Armenian Զմմառ , Arabic بزمار) is an Armenian Catholic monastery in Lebanon .

Bzommar Monastery

The convent is located 30 kilometers from Beirut on a wooded hill at an altitude of 930  m . From 1749 to 1866 and again since 1928, Bzommar is the official residence and residence of the Armenian Catholic Patriarch of Cilicia . Bzommar is also the seat of the religious order of the Armenian Catholic Patriarchal Institute (ICPB) .

The oldest manuscript fragment of the Chronicle of Matthias of Edessa , dating from 1323, is kept in the library of Bzommar .
