The television station CBeebies belongs to the BBC group. It first aired on February 11, 2002 and is aimed at children under the age of six. For older children there is a sister channel with CBBC .

Awards

The station has already won several awards for its program. Among other things, CBeebies won a BAFTA Children's Award every year from 2002 to 2010, with the exception of 2003 .

broadcasts

The program is broadcast daily from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. UTC ± 0 .

Every broadcast day ends with a bedtime story - a bedtime story . In contrast to, for example, the stories about recurring characters in the evening greeting of the German sandman ( KiKA and others), the Bedtime story on CBeebies always comes from a children's book. The title and authors of the respective book are mentioned at the beginning and / or end of the article, so parents can easily retell the story if they like. The lecturer does not speak from the off, but directly into the camera, in between animated illustrations from the corresponding book are faded in. By October 2017, the CBeebies Bedtime Stories series consisted of over 600 stories. Before each story there is a short, thematically appropriate introduction by the narrator.

While a story ( lunchtime story ) is read out by a permanent CBeebies presenter at lunchtime , the bedtime story tellers are always guests. These are mostly celebrities who have young children themselves and / or are otherwise involved in the entertainment of children (for example as actors, moderators, children's book authors, comedians or musicians). It is not uncommon for actors to be chosen who already have experience as voice actors or audiobook speakers and who, appropriately trained, can give unique or easily distinguishable voices to the individual characters in the story. The guests who have spoken so far have included Michael Rosen , James McAvoy , David Tennant , Simon Pegg , Rosamund Pike , Patrick Stewart , Rob Brydon , Gary Barlow , Damian Lewis , David Hasselhoff , Lulu , Toby Stephens , Shayne Ward , John Barrowman , John Simm , Freema Agyeman, and Tom Hardy , each of whom have made several appearances.

Other well-known programs are:

Some of these are also broadcast internationally, for example in Germany in synchronized form (i.e. in German) on the public children's channel or the private broadcaster SuperRTL .

Moderators

The moderators are themselves involved in some of the broadcasts, and their job is also to skillfully fill the pauses between the program parts (for example by doing little skits or presenting the birthday cards sent to their young viewers) and creating suitable transitions. Almost all presenters had experience in other areas of children's television entertainment prior to the show, mostly as characters in other programs and shows.
