CD90 (synonym Thy-1 membrane glycoprotein ) is a surface protein from the immunoglobulin superfamily .
properties
CD90 is involved in cell adhesion , cell migration , apoptosis , the growth of axons , the formation of cell contacts and contacts with the extracellular matrix , the activation of T cells and the development of fibrosis . It is made in many types of cells, especially immune cells and nerve cells . In the brain, CD90 is involved in synaptogenesis . CD90 is glycosylated , phosphorylated and has a GPI anchor and a pyroglutamic acid . Different isoforms are formed by alternative splicing .
CD90 is a tumor suppressor .
Applications
CD90 is a cell type marker for hematopoietic stem cells .
